Most websites are set up for the purpose of making money. Some may not make money directly but they are almost always intended to make money in some way. That means that the revenue that your site generates is going to be something that you are going to have to be aware of. Ideally you should see your revenue increasing over time as your site gets more visitors.

Revenue is simply the amount of money that your site generates. This will largely come from the sale of products but there are several other sources that it could come from. The key thing is to make sure that you are tracking the amount of revenue your site makes. If you are not making enough money from the site to cover the cost of operating it there is little reason to continue. That being said in most cases it will take time for a site to start generating revenue and in most cases it will increase over time so you don't want to be too quick to abandon a site.

There are basically two ways that you can increase the revenue for your site, the first is to get more visitors to your site. Obviously the more people who come to your site the more likely it is that they will buy whatever you are selling. The downside of this approach is that it usually costs money to get more people to come to your site so you are going to have to make sure that increase in revenue is enough to offset the increased cost of getting the traffic.

The other approach that you can use to get more revenue is to increase the conversion rate of the people who come to your site. There are two ways that this can be done. The first is to get more targeted visitors to your site. The goal is not really to get sheer volumes of people to your site but rather to get people who are interested in what you are selling. This is best done by making sure that your site is well optimized to target keywords that people who are looking to buy would use when they are doing a search.

The other way to improve the conversion rate of your site and increase your revenue is to have better sales copy. This is the content that you have on your site that is intended to make people buy. Quite frankly a lot of the sales copy that appears on websites is quite poor. Writing good sales copy is not easy and in most cases it requires a professional writer to create it. Well written copy is not cheap but it is well worth the investment since it will dramatically increase the conversion rate of your website and greatly increase the amount of money that you make.
